Cas / Guayaba ProductsPart of the guava family, cas or guayaba is mostly used to make sweetened fruit drinks, jellies and jams or fillings for pies due to its acidity. The flavor is similar to grapefruit and lemon, but not as sour. The mature fruit is about the size of plum and can be lime green, yellow or blotchy brown.
Unlike its sweeter relatives, biting into a cas will result in a punch of sour and is only slightly more pleasant than sucking on a lemon. Although the entire fruit can be eaten, peel, seeds and all, it is largely uncommon to eat this fruit by itself.
